The European Community
Regulation enacted the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and
Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) in 2007 that relates to the safe
use and identification of chemicals. The aim of REACH is to
improve the protection of human health and the environment through
the better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties
of chemical substances and the risks that they pose.
To this end, the European
Chemical Agency (ECA) has identified various Substances of Very
High Concern (SVHC) that are known or suspected to pose a
significant risk to human health and the environment. It maintains
a list of those substances on a Candidate List and adds to it
periodically. The most current list can be found here.
Article 33(1) of the REACH regulations requires that manufacturers
must review each substance as it is added to the candidate list
and immediately notify customers of their presence if their use
exceeds 0.1% by weight. The current candidate list of Substances
of Very High Concern and the weight of each as used by Technical
Manufacturing Corporation is listed below as follows:

LIST
OF SUBSTANCES OF VERY HIGH CONCERN VALID AS OF 6/18/2012
The difference between the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and
Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) directive and the Restriction of
Hazardous Substances (ROHS) is that ROHS requires the elimination
of six hazardous substances in the manufacturing process while
REACH requires the upstream communication of Substances of Very
High Concern by a supplier with the customer where applicable when
they are included on the candidate list.
Technical
Manufacturing Corporation will fully comply with the REACH
directives as defined by
the European Community and will immediately notify each customer
where applicable as substances of very high concern are added to
the candidate list and if their use in any product exceeds 0.1% by
weight. At the current time, no Substance of Very High Concern as
published on the candidate list is used by the company nor is it known that any are used downstream in the supply chain.
Please contact us with any
questions or comments concerning our conformance to the European
Community Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction
of Chemicals (REACH) Directive.
